BID CALCULATOR
Use this calculator to estimate project costs, selling price, and profit based on your inputs. Work through each step, then review the summary to understand total pricing and margins before finalizing your bid.

SHORESOX MATERIAL
Input the total linear feet, and price per foot, for each system size included in this order.

18’ SYSTEM (Custom Order)
24’ SYSTEM (Custom Order)
REFERENCES & GUIDELINES
Material: Consult your Regional Technical Expert (your SOX rep) about the correct material sizes (6, 12, 18, and 24’) for your project.
Price: SOX offers tiered pricing (the more you order, the less it costs). Consult your Regional Technical Expert if you need assistance filling in the correct pricing.
Custom orders: For 18’ & 24’ systems expect an average lead time of 4 weeks.
FREIGHT
The Pallet Count is calculated based on your material order inputs (from Step 1). Shipping costs vary. Estimate your Cost (per pallet) and enter below.
REFERENCES & GUIDELINES
Cost: Shipping varies by distance, carrier, and timing. If unknown, a working assumption is $500 per pallet (update when you have a quote).

ANCHORS
Use the "References & Guidelines" below to assist with the inputs in this step.
Insert the Quantity of Anchors (per 100 LF) needed for your project and the estimated Cost (per anchor).
The total cost will be calculated automatically in your final summary.
6’ & 12’ SYSTEM
18’ & 24’ SYSTEM
Cost
REFERENCES & GUIDELINES
Quantity: Quantity of anchors may vary, and it’s important to have extras for the unexpected.
SOX Suggests:
- For 6’ & 12’ systems: 80 anchors for every 100 LF of material
- For 18’ & 24’ systems: 125 anchors for every 100 LF of material
TYPES: Types of anchors vary based on the type of substrate you are working in. In some cases you may utilize more than one type of anchor. Here are some common anchors with their average costs for reference:
Wooden Stake
Wooden stakes are a reliable, cost-effective option.
Average Cost (per anchor):
$1.50 – $2.50 (homemade)
$3.50 (premade)
T-Post
Steel T-posts are durable anchors commonly available in lengths of 2 feet or more.
Average Cost (per anchor):
$2.50 – $4.00
Rebar J-Hook
Rebar J-hooks can be fabricated by bending rebar to create an attachment point.
Average Cost (per anchor):
$3.00 – $10.00
Metal Helical
Helical anchors are heavy-duty solutions designed for maximum holding strength.
Average Cost (per anchor):
$7.00 – $100.00
ROPE
SOX recommends a spool (1,400 feet of rope) for every 400 linear feet of material purchased. Based on your material order, the fields below have automatically calculated how many you will likely need, as well as providing the cost per spool.
You have the option to add additional spools, if needed (see “References & Guidelines” below).

Rope
Specs: ¼” Diamond Braided Polypropylene rope with poly core.
Additional rope: The above calculations are based on the average distance that the anchors are placed behind the ShoreSOX system. On average, we see 3-5 feet of rope being utilized for every anchor. Consult your RTE about the site conditions for your specific project, and add additional rope if needed.
FILL
Estimating fill material is highly variable and must be calculated based on your project’s specific conditions. While we provide general system-based volume estimates, your actual fill needs may differ significantly due to a range of factors. Use the form fields to enter your own values based on supplier quotes, engineering guidance, and project plans.

REFERENCES & GUIDELINES
Your Responsibility: Due to the complexity and variability of fill material, we do not provide automated estimates or pricing in this section. You’ll need to:
- Assess your site conditions
- Choose your fill material
- Calculate the volume required
- Estimate delivery logistics and cost
System-Based Volume Estimates:
- 6’ systems: 25 cubic yards per 100 linear feet / 1/4 cubic yard per linear foot
- 12’ systems: 50 cubic yards per 100 linear feet / 1/2 cubic yard per linear foot
- 18’ systems: 75 cubic yards per 100 linear feet / 3/4 cubic yard per linear foot
- 24’ systems: 100 cubic yards per 100 linear feet / 1 cubic yard per linear foot
*These are rough estimates based on typical installation conditions. Use them as a starting point for your own calculations.
Delivery Reference: One truck typically delivers 12-18 cubic yards of fill material.
IMPORTANT VARIABLES TO CONSIDER:
- Material Type: Any fill material >150 microns is acceptable, but different materials compress differently, affecting volume.
- Compression & Settlement: Some materials settle more than others, requiring additional volume to achieve the same coverage.
- Sourcing & Delivery: Costs vary based on material source, delivery method, and distance to site.
- Alternative Scenarios: Your project may involve dredging instead of importing fill material, meaning no external fill material is needed.
VEGETATION
Based on your material order, the estimated square footage of coverage you will likely need has been automatically calculated below. Reference this when entering your costs below.
The cost is highly variable and your actual vegetation needs may differ significantly due to a range of factors. Use the form fields to enter your own values based on supplier quotes, engineering guidance, and project plans.

SOFT COSTS
- Permitting
Accommodations:
- Travel
- Lodging
Equipment rental:
- Trash Pump
- Machine to move material to site (Workman Cart, Skid Steer, etc.)
Additional Tools:
- Sledgehammers (1 per installer)
- Tweezer Pliers (1 per installer)
- Utility knives
- Bow rake
- Shovels (any type; minimum 2–3 depending on crew size)

LABOR & TRAINING
Use this section to calculate labor and training costs for your project. Labor typically depends on crew size, site accessibility, and total linear footage.
Certification Training is required for your first 500 linear feet of installation. Has your labor team been fully certified?
If Yes:
If No:
If you would like to hire a SOX National Trainer to provide full-service management of your project, enter the Project Management Cost (per linear foot).
REFERENCES & GUIDELINES
Labor: A crew of 4 can typically install 100 linear feet per day.
Labor time can vary depending on several factors:
- Site accessibility
- Weather conditions
- Soil type and site preparation needs
- Experience level of the crew
