INSTALLTION STEPS
Follow our proven installation process to properly deploy the SOX system. From anchor placement and rope channel setup to filling, shaping, and vegetation, each step ensures long-term shoreline stability and performance.

STAKES

Determine Position and Drive Stakes

2 Rows of Anchors
-
Anchors are 2-3 feet apart
-
Upper row is staggered between lower row
Stake Positions Effect Material Fold
Fold Material in Half Creating Desired Slope and Grade.

Manipulate material to meet property owners needs.

MATERIAL
Lay out material

Lay Mesh upside-down in front of stakes
-
DO NOT do this step alone; the mesh is heavy!


SET CHANNEL [BOTTOM]


Set Bottom Rope Channel
-
Goal: Set the bottom rope channel in place while tying the least number of anchors possible.
-
Start at the 5th anchor
-
Tie less on straights more on curves
-
Think about how the rope channel will move when pulled tight.
SEWING

-
Sew Sections together or closed around the rope channel.
-
Sewing can be done by hand or with a machine.
-
Sew Sections together behind rope channels along existing seam.

Reinforce
-
Reinforce machine stitches with 4-5 inches of lock stitch on either end.
TIGHTEN CHANNEL [BOTTOM]


Tighten bottom rope channel
-
Make sure one end is anchored.
-
Lock mesh in place with correct knots.
-
Play Tug of War.
TETHER CHANNEL [BOTTOM]
Completely Tether Bottom Rope Channel
-
Tie Bottom Rope Channel to every Bottom Anchor.
-
Tie Safety Lines from bottom rope channel to every other top anchor.

FOLD MATERIAL


Fold Material and Set Top Rope Channel
-
Tie Up the least number of stakes while holding the mesh in place.
-
Use extra temporary stakes to hold mesh in place on outward curves.
TIGHTEN CHANNEL [TOP]
Tighten Top Rope Channel
-
Pull Top Rope Channel tight.

TETHER CHANNEL [TOP]

Completely Tether Top Rope Channel
-
Tie upper rope channel to every single upper stake.
-
Stakes with safety lines attached will have two ropes.
PREP FOR FILL
Prop Up and Stretch Out
-
Have Prop Stakes Ready!
-
Use 2x4 wood board or PVC pipe to stretch out mesh before introducing fill.
-
If mesh is not stretched out the length of the system can be uneven over the deployment area.

SHAPING
Shaping and tamping

Walk out system to prevent wrinkles.

Use 2x4s to stop the nose from getting too big depending on desired look.

Tamp out high spots and to ensure compaction.

VEGETATION

Vegetate SOX system from waterline to upper row of stakes.
