INSTALLATION PORTAL
PLAN BEFORE YOU DEPLOY
This tool walks you step-by-step through defining project goals, evaluating site conditions, selecting the appropriate ShoreSOX® system, and organizing materials, anchors, fill, vegetation, and tools.
Proper planning improves efficiency in the field, ensures system stability, and supports long-term shoreline performance.

PROJECT INFO
PRIMARY FIELD CONTACTS
PROPERTY OWNERS GOALS
Customer Goals will affect how a SOX system is installed. SOX systems can be manipulated to meet different slope requirements.
SITE PREP
SOX site preparation is minimal:
- Extend culverts
- Remove large rocks
- Move irrigation heads, if necessary
- Clear large vegetation
- DO NOT pre-grade the embankment

ANCHORS
QUANTITY
Quantity of anchors may vary, and it’s important to have extras for the unexpected.
SOX Suggests:
- For 6’ & 12’ systems: 80 anchors for every 100 LF of material
- For 18’ & 24’ systems: 125 anchors for every 100 LF of material
FILL METHOD
Important Variables to Consider:
- Material Type: Any fill material >150 microns is acceptable, but different materials compress differently, affecting volume.
- Compression & Settlement: Some materials settle more than others, requiring additional volume to achieve the same coverage.
Fill Type
System-Based Volume Estimates
- 6’ systems: 25 yd³ per 100 LF (0.25 yd³/LF)
- 12’ systems: 50 yd³ per 100 LF (0.50 yd³/LF)
- 18’ systems: 75 yd³ per 100 LF (0.75 yd³/LF)
- 24’ systems: 100 yd³ per 100 LF (1.0 yd³/LF)
*These are rough estimates based on typical installation conditions. Use them as a starting point for your own calculations.
IMPORT
DREDGE
Is dredging a core part of your business?
Success when dredge filling ShoreSOX is completely dependent on the substrate of the waterbody. If the waterbody has a high clay or organic content, the dredge spoils may need to be augmented with clean sand to ensure a firmly compacted shoreline. We encourage collecting soil samples from the waterbody that is going to be dredged to ensure success. A combination of dredging and importing fill can be used if the layer of suitable material in the waterbody is smaller than the volume required to fill the ShoreSOX.
VEGETATION
COMMON TYPES OF VEGETATION
- Sod
- Seeds
- Plug
- Plantings
